Some recommendations to get the best of our products
Here you will find some recommendations you can follow to get the best results of our products. You are advised to pay attention to the VERY IMPORTANT recommendations, since disregarding them may affect severely the quality of puzzle.
You can check the FAQ section to solve your doubts. In case your question is not answered, do not hesitate in contacting us by e-mail.
VERY IMPORTANT
- Select photos of a maximum size of 20 x 30 cm and a minimum size of 10 x 13 cm if the puzzle is bigger than 140 pieces.
- Please check the photo is in good conditions. Scratchs, tears or stains will be augmented in the puzzle.
- Use a 5X or 10X magnifying glass to look closely the photo in order to know its definition level. If it does not seem clear at eye-sight, discard it for puzzles bigger than 140 pieces.
- You are advised to get a 15 x 20 cm enlargement of the photo you choose for the puzzle to avoid undesired surprises related to image definition in puzzles from 560 to 1120 pieces.
- Never send us negatives nor slides. They are irreplaceable in case of loss.
- If your photo is too high or too wide, it may be cropped. That will mean losing part of the original. You can know how much it will be cropped by using this formula: You should substract to your photo's width the result of the following operation: Length of the shortest side of the photo x Length of the longest side of the photo / Length of the shortest side of the puzzle. Example: We want to make a 560 pcs MAGIC PUZZLE (51 x 36 cms.) out of a 10 x 15 cm photo. We apply the formula: 15 - ( 10 x 51 / 36) = 0.8 cm and discover that we will lose 0.8 cm of our photo's height.
- On the other hand, if the photo is too squared, it may get cropped by the shortest side, losing part of the original image. You can know how much it will be cropped applying the following formula: You should substract to the longest side of the photo the result of the following operation: Length of the shortest side of the photo x Length of the longest side of the puzzle / Length of the shortest side of the puzzle. Example: We want to make a 280 pcs. puzzle (36 x 25.5 cm) out of a 10 x 11 cm photo. We apply the formula: 11 - ( 10 x 36 / 25.5 ) = -3.11 cms. In this case, we should substract this 3.11 cm to the shortest side of the photo. So, the visible part of the photo will be 6.8 x 11 cm. In both cases, we will try to focus the main object or subject of the photo, trying to discard the less important part of the photo.
- Pay attention to photocopies, ink-jet printing, offset (magazines or postcards), or laser or digital printings. These pictures are made of an infinity of tiny points which compose a weft. Enlarging the picture may make these points to grow as big as pinheads. You can see if your picture is made of points by watching it with a magnifying glass.
- If you wish to frame your puzzle once you have finished it, do not glue the printed face, since digital printing inks get damaged in contact with glue. Instead, glue the reverse of the puzzle (blue cardboard). However, we recommend framing the puzzle without using glue. It is better to rely on front glass and rear board pressure.
RECOMMENDED
- Choose photos with the widest color range possible. Doing the puzzle will be easier due to information provided by the different colors of the pieces you need to complete it. For instance: It will be easier to solve a puzzle of a colorful tropical bird, than a puzzle of a landscape where 80% of the space belongs to blue sky. In the first case, the color of the pieces will be a relevant hint, while in the second case we will find a big amount of blue pieces. Imagine you have to do a black & white puzzle... (only for puzzle-maniac)
- Try to avoid large parts of the same color (black or white backgrounds, sky...). If not, the puzzle may get really difficult to complete.
- Choose photos with the highest contrast possible. Photos with low or dim light will not look much good on the puzzle.
- If you add some text or a date, do not place it right on the border. Leave at least 1 cm to make sure it will not be cropped when manufacturing the puzzle.
